The Tulip Festival is held each year in Skagit county WA. It’s about an hour and a half drive from our place in Sammamish. This year it runs through the end of April, so those of you that are local still have this weekend to visit before they are beheaded, which reminds me of a slightly embarrassing story. A few years ago, my mom was out here visiting and we decided to drive up to the tulip festival. We drove around the area for at least a half hour before we realized that all of the tulips were gone. They had all been beheaded and we were left staring at acres upon acres of green headless tulips We did manage to find a nursery that had a modest garden full of tulips so that we could fire off a few pictures and not return completely empty handed, but it will still be many years before I live that trip down.
