Customer Service Does Still Exist!

A couple of months ago, I bought the Bose SoundDock off of my boss. He used it for a day and decided that it cluttered up his desk (yeah, I didn’t get it either), so he sold it to me for a great price.

I’ve been using it every day and loving the convenience of having my playlist travel on my iPod with me wherever I go. And the sound quality is surprisingly good too. Normally I think Bose products are way too bright. I dunno, maybe I’m just used to listening to music through crappy speakers attached to my PC, but I digress…

About a month ago, the SoundDock started to act up. It would sap the iPod’s battery every once in a while even though it requires power to work and it charges the iPod in the cradle. Last week it stopped working altogether, so over lunch yesterday I brought it in to the Bose store, expecting them to tell me it was going to have to be sent away and that it would cost as much to fix it as to buy a new one (Apple would do that ;-)
To my surprise, the guy walked over to the stack of SoundDock’s, grabbed one, pulled the components out of the box, put them into a bag and said sorry, hope this one works out better. I was so damn happy until I got to the door and was tackled by security. Turns out that the guy who gave me the new unit didn’t work there.

Okay, bad humor. Seriously though; it is nice to see that customer service still does exist in the U.S! And they took care of me despite the fact that they will still probably have to pay Apple $30 for the little docking connector that is in the new unit they gave me, but that’s another story for another time…..
