Full moon over Seattle May 31st 2007

Tuesday, June 5th, 2007

I met up with my sister and some friends from work last night at Kerry Park in Seattle to watch and photograph the full moon rising over Seattle.

I snapped this shot when I arrived at around 9:00 PM.  Click on the picture for the full resolution photo.

I also took this panorama while waiting for the moon to appear.

Here’s a shot of the moon which finally appeared as it was approach 10:00 PM.

and one last wider angle shot.

Next time I’ll have to bring one of my telephoto’s so I can grab a few tight shots of the moon in focus with the needle.  These were all taken with my wide angle 17-55mm and my Nikon D2x.

Erin captures amazing portraits of Claire

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Friends of ours invited us over to their house on Easter for brunch and an Easter egg hunt (for the kids). Erin brought the camera and grabbed these shots of Claire.

The added bonus is that I think it is safe to say that Erin is completely addicted to Photoshop, so I know that I won’t have to beg to upgrade to CS3 this Summer ;-)

A great day for photography!

Friday, April 6th, 2007

We had our second day in a row of sunshine and temps in the 70s. The morning started off with Cole’s friend Danny visiting and Erin got some great shots of the kids playing. Here’s one of Danny:

Later in the afternoon, I came home from work early and followed Erin over to Beaver Lake Park. Erin had made plans to meet up with our friend Lori to photograph the kids. Lori is also a photographer and has four very photogenic kids. Check out this shot of Courtney that Erin captured!

And here’s a shot of Lori.

Spring is in the air

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

Here’s a shot I took of a Senetti Blue flower in our back yard a couple of weekends ago. Spring is finally kicking into gear in the NW! I took this picture using my Nikon D2x and a Nikkor 105mm macro lens.

Kate finishes the Ironman 70.3 at Oceanside CA

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

I flew to San Diego this weekend to watch my sister Kate compete in her first 1/2 Ironman at Oceanside CA. From what her friends tell me, she has been training religiously for months and it showed on Saturday.

From the time she entered the water to the finish line, she had a smile on her face, so it was no surprise that she now plans to go the distance and run a full iron man at some point in the future.

We could only catch glimpses of Kate along the course, mainly just before and after the transitions. The picture above was taken as Kate was finishing her 56 mile bike. She was telling everyone afterwards about how hard the hill section was. She said it started at about 30 miles into the ride. I found this map that shows that the riders had to labor up about an 800′ climb in elevation; three quarters of which was inside of 5 miles!

This was Kate when she was roughly half way through her 13.1 mile run. I’ve also posted a bunch of additional pictures from her race here for you to enjoy. In addition to meeting her goal of finishing the race, she also came within 15 minutes of her stretch goal - to complete the course in 6 hours and 30 minutes. GO KATE!!!

What a difference a year makes!

Monday, March 26th, 2007

Last year at this time, Nathan was starting his first season of playing t-ball. Today was Nathan’s first baseball practice! This year, they have a pitching machine and Nathan connected with his first pitch.

Last year, it was all about making the kids comfortable with the sport, so they didn’t enforce the rules and each kid had a turn at bat and got to run the bases. This year, they start to play by the rules, which I’m told can make for some long game days ;-)

Then there is Cole. I was busy watching Nathan’s practice and when I turned around to look for Cole, I found him at the top of the monkey bars and quickly shot this picture of our fearless little climber.

Finally, here’s a shot I took of Ian before packing it in and calling it a day. It’s going to be a fun Springtime ;-)

David Streams Photography has a custom made theme song!

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

I recently hired Dan Bos from True Tone Productions to compose music for my Photography website and I’m blown away by the results!! He nailed it. I think the song “Pendulum” captures the sound and elicits the emotions that I was looking for. Check out my site to listen to it and let me know what you think!

Erin’s portrait of Ian

I love this picture Erin took of Ian. I think it totally captures his personality. You can just tell he’s up to something can’t you? ;-)

Photography filled weekend

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Joshua and Kim, two very close friends of ours, recently adopted two children from Africa. Saturday morning they brought Sidney and Spencer over for photographs. I’m still busy at work on the editing phase, but here are two shots to tide you over until I can post the slideshow.

Here’s Sidney. Isn’t she the most adorable little girl you have ever seen?

And here is Spencer. He is all boy. Loves his cars, trucks and planes. He’s going to be 2 next month.

Erin and I had the opportunity to spend the evening with Sonia and Ziad at Discovery Park in Seattle to photograph their engagement. It never ceases to amaze me how small of a world we live in. It turns out Sonia is from Ohio, where both Erin and I grew up and Ziad is a Microsoftee, so we had so much in common out of the gate.

Sonia and Ziad are both such naturals in front of the camera. She is going to make a beautiful bride! Normally, we try to capture 30-40 good photos for an engagement shoot, but yesterday was unbelievable weather and when you couple that with a great location and photogenic subjects, well, we tripled it and came out with 114 images that we are proud of. Erin and I had a blast editing them and putting them together in the slide show (click on the photo below to view the show!).

Send your best wishes for Sonia and Ziad’s April 2007 wedding in Miami!
